KAPTAIN ROBBIE KNIEVEL

Hall of Fame Inductee 2007

Born May 7th, 1962 in Butte, Montana to Linda and Robert "Evel" Knievel, Robbie is one of four Knievel siblings. He began jumping his bicycle at age 4 and moved to riding motorcycles at age 7.

At the age of 8 Robbie performed in his first show with his Dad at Madison Square Garden. By the age of 12 he was on tour with Evel, always under his Dad's direction. After a few years on tour Robbie wanted to continue to lengthen his jumps but his father disapproved so it was at this point Robbie went out on his own and began to make a name for himself. Since 1979 Robbie Knievel has been the world's foremost motorcycle daredevil.

Robbie has successfully completed every jump his father attempted with the exception of two: the bus jumping record set by Evel at Kings Island in Ohio in 1975 and the Snake River Canyon jump in 1974. While the bus jump is on the drawing board, the plans are just starting for the Snake River Canyon jump. Robbie is in the process of developing his rocket bike for this jump.

Kaptain Robbie Knievel says “What I do best is prepare for my jumps. I'm not going to tell all my secrets, I'm a professional stuntman. I've had some crashes, and a few broken bones, but I have lighter, faster bikes and better technology on my side, too. . . The key is to understand the ballistics of hurling 400 pounds of motorcycle, flesh and blood through the air for nearly the length of a football field.”

Evel Knievel has said “I’d ridden in so many ambulances with my arms around Robbie and Kelly, crying, begging them, “Promise me you’ll never do anything like this when you grow up . . . And what did the little sucker, Rob, do? He went out and started jumping motorcycles. I’m not the greatest daredevil in the world . . . I’m the father of the greatest daredevil in the world.”
