TOM RUDD

Hall of Fame Inductee - 2001

Tom began his incredible journey in the motorcycle world in the early 60’s as a motorcycle mechanic and drag racer.  In 1968 he opened a small parts and accessories store in Minneapolis called Drag Specialties.  Over the next few years Drag Specialties became the largest parts and accessories company in the country.

Drag Specialties was the leader of the pack with all others trying to catch up to its innovative marketing strategy, raising the bar that, even today, others are trying to attain.

Drag Specialties was sold in 1987 but this didn’t stop Tom.  He, along with his wife Patricia, founded Kuryakyn Corporation in 1989.  Once again Tom’s determination and tenacity moved his company to the top of the field.  Innovative product design and marketing by the Rudd companies kept motorcycling alive and exciting even in the lean years.
