OLIVER SHOKOUH


2007 Hall Of Fame Inductee

 

Oliver Shokouh has been a motorcycle rider and enthusiast since the age of 12. Originally from Detroit, he holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Wayne State University and worked as a Project Engineer in auto emissions research for 8 years.


Oliver became a Harley-Davidson dealer in 1976 in Glendale, California, going on to serve on the boards of directors of the Southern California Harley-Davidson Dealers Association and the California Motorcycle Dealers Association, holding positions of president and secretary/treasurer. He was the first runner up in the 1999 Dealer News Top 100 Dealerships in the Country.


In 1984 Oliver founded The Love Ride, one of the largest one-day motorcycle events in the country, and has raised nearly $19 million dollars for MDA throughout its 23 year existence. He is currently Chairman of the Love Ride Foundation.


His humanitarian efforts and generosity have earned him numerous awards and honors including the MDA 1994 Humanitarian of the Year Award and Southern California MDA’s Man of the Year Award in 2006. He has designated his daughters and sons-in-law as successors for continuation of The Love Ride Event and his business.


Oliver is a Life Member of the AMA, Wind & Fire Motorcycle Club, and HOG (Harley Owners Group) along with being one of the Charter Members of The Ugly Motorcycle Club. In 1999 he was the recipient of the Silver Spoke Award by the National Coalition of Motorcycles and Confederation of Clubs. He was the producer of the Harley-Davidson Official and Authorized History Video, a socio-cultural history of motorcycling in America and an examination of the “biker” phenomenon.


In 1994 Oliver received the MIC (Motorcycle Industry Council) Key Award. He has been the recipient of several Bar & Shield Circle of Excellence Awards by Harley-Davidson, Inc. and has been named Harley-Davidson Promoter of the Year, twice.


Oliver has ridden in every state in the United States. During the summer of 1994 he rode to Alaska with his 18-year old son Richard on Richard’s first long distance ride.
